At Avery's Light, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to experience the beauty of the outdoors. Through our Adaptive Equipment Network, we're partnering with local businesses, recreation departments, and community organizations across Northern Colorado to make adaptive recreation equipment more accessible than ever before.
Rather than creating a single equipment lending library, we've developed a community partnership model that places adaptive equipment where it's needed most—making it easier for families to discover, reserve, and enjoy life-changing experiences close to home.
Huckleberry Hiker Adaptive Hiking Program
We're excited to launch the first phase of our Adaptive Equipment Network with the Huckleberry Hiker—an innovative adaptive hiking device that allows children and adults with limited mobility to experience trails and outdoor adventures that are inaccessible to traditional wheelchairs.
Whether it's exploring Rocky Mountain National Park, hiking to a favorite overlook, or simply spending time together on a local trail, the Huckleberry Hiker helps remove barriers so families can create unforgettable memories together.
Thanks to partnerships with Estes Park Mountain Shop and The Extra Mile Outdoor Gear & Bike in Loveland, families can now reserve a Huckleberry Hiker through a free-will donation rental program. Staff at both locations have been trained by Huckleberry Hiker to ensure every family has the knowledge and confidence to enjoy a safe, successful adventure.
The response has been incredible. Families from across Colorado—and beyond—have already shared how grateful they are to have access to this equipment, reminding us that something as simple as a day on the trail can create memories that last a lifetime.
